Bird Watching in beautiful Yosemite Springs

For both ornithologists and amateur bird watchers alike, Yosemite Springs' 100 acres and the surrounding national forest provide an ideal setting for birding. The best time is between early June and August, however on the property the birding season can begin as early as late April. Yosemite and its environs offers a fine list of montane species. Some, such as Stellar Jays, Vaux's and White-throated Swifts, Hammon'ds and Dusky Flycatchers, Clark's Nutcracker, Mountain Chickadee, Brown Creeper, Western Tanager, and Fox and Lincoln's Sparrows, are easy to spot just by sitting on the front porch or in the meadow. You'll likely wake up on the sounds of a Black-backed Woodpecker chipping away at one of the trees near the house. But it takes a bit of luck to wake up on a Blue Grouse or see a Northern Goshawk soaring overhead.
